IITTI World Civility Index just got accepted into the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Presencing Institute U-School program, today on Dec 18, 2023.

MIT, amongst other universities, are beginning to see the changes AI (artificial intelligence) is bringing, and the danger is that people will feel distraught and “useless”. The Presenting Institute is gathering from around the world teams that look promising in solving this issue and create a center for exchange.

The MIT Presencing Institute has the overarching purpose of fostering transformative change in individuals, organizations, and societal systems. The institute is particularly focused on promoting awareness, mindfulness, and innovative approaches to addressing complex challenges. The key elements of its purpose include:

1.) Theory U Methodology: The Presencing Institute is closely linked to the Theory U methodology developed by MIT professor Otto Scharmer. Theory U is a framework for leading profound change, emphasizing a shift in consciousness and attention as a fundamental aspect of transformative leadership.

2.) Transformative Leadership: The institute aims to empower individuals, leaders, and change-makers with the tools and mindset needed to navigate and lead through periods of significant change. This involves cultivating a deep understanding of the self, others, and the systems in which they operate.

3.) Global Impact: With a global perspective, the Presencing Institute seeks to contribute to positive societal change and sustainability. This includes addressing issues related to social justice, environmental sustainability, and systemic challenges faced by communities around the world.

4.) Research and Innovation: The Presenting Institute engages in research activities to explore new paradigms for leadership, organizational development, and societal transformation. This includes collaborations with researchers, practitioners, and organizations committed to driving positive change.

It is somewhat similar to ISO, and in other ways, similar to standardized tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, or GMAT.

It is now used in 19 countries by hundreds of thousands of people, and became an official partner of UN Sustainable Development in 2019
